Privacy Policy
This is the short version: we collect the minimum we need to run the site, we don't sell your data, and you can email us to delete it at any time. The long version is below.

1. Who we are
This policy applies to Social Media Marketing News, published at smm.upalret.online. References to "we", "us", or "our" mean the publication.
2. What we collect
2.1 Information you give us directly
- Newsletter subscription. Your email address, plus optional interest tags you select. Stored until you unsubscribe.
- Correspondence. If you email us (tips, corrections, pitches), we keep that email so we can reply and follow up.
2.2 Information collected automatically
- Server logs. Your IP address, browser user-agent, and the URL you requested. Retained for up to 30 days for security and debugging.
- Reading analytics. Aggregate counts of which articles are read and roughly how far down readers scroll. We do not store this against your identity; it is bucketed by anonymous session.
- Cookies. A single first-party cookie for the dark/light theme preference. No third-party tracking cookies, no advertising cookies, no fingerprinting.
3. Why we collect it
- To send you the newsletter you signed up for.
- To answer your emails.
- To understand which articles resonate and inform our editorial decisions.
- To prevent abuse and protect the site (security logs).
4. What we do NOT do
- We do not sell, rent, or trade your email address or any other data.
- We do not share your data with advertising networks.
- We do not run third-party retargeting pixels or behavioral ads on this site.
- We do not profile you for political or psychographic targeting.
5. Third-party services we use
We rely on the following processors to run the site. Each has its own privacy policy and is contractually bound to handle data on our behalf:
- Hosting and CDN — serves the site and caches static assets.
- Database provider — stores newsletter subscribers and content metadata.
- Object storage — Cloudflare R2 stores the article images we publish.
- Email delivery — sends the newsletter when you've subscribed.
6. Your rights
Regardless of where you live, you can ask us to:
- Confirm what we have on file for you.
- Correct anything wrong.
- Delete everything (right to be forgotten / right to erasure).
- Export your data in a portable format.
- Object to or restrict specific kinds of processing.
Email privacy@smm.upalret.online with your request. We respond within 30 days, usually within a few business days.
7. EU / UK / EEA readers (GDPR)
Our lawful bases for processing are (a) consent — for the newsletter; (b) legitimate interests — for server security logs and aggregate analytics; and (c) contractual necessity — for replying to emails you sent us. You may withdraw consent at any time.
8. California readers (CCPA / CPRA)
We do not sell your personal information. You have the right to know what we collect, to delete it, and to opt out of any future "sale" (which we do not currently engage in). Email privacy@smm.upalret.online.
9. Children
This site is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us data, email privacy@smm.upalret.online and we will delete it.
10. Data retention
- Newsletter subscribers: until you unsubscribe + 30 days for audit.
- Server logs: 30 days, then deleted.
- Aggregate analytics: indefinite, but never tied to an identifiable person.
11. International transfers
Our infrastructure is hosted in the United States and the European Union. By using the site you consent to the transfer of your data to those regions where applicable.
12. Changes to this policy
We'll update the "Last updated" date at the top whenever we make material changes. For significant changes that affect your rights, we'll also email subscribers.
